Body
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Luna, Boy Scout Troop 106, was awarded the highest rank of Eagle Scout on March 22, 2009, at Guadalupe Centers, Inc; and,
WHEREAS, Thomas has been very active in Scouting, achieving all ranks as a Cub Scout and was a Webelo scout; and,
WHEREAS, Thomas is a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, was a staff member at the Fall Camporee in 2008, attended Florida Sea Base for a ten-day "tall ship" run in the Bahamas, attended the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree, and has held the positions of historian, instructor, troop guide, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader; and,
WHEREAS, Thomas is a 17-year-old junior at Archbishop O'Hara High School, and has completed more than eighty hours of community service, including service in the areas of community, religion, and serving the disadvantaged; and,
WHEREAS, as his Eagle project, Thomas replaced a deteriorated fence at a Mattie Rhodes Art Center, a facility which helps disadvantaged youth in the community; and,
WHEREAS, Thomas has also served the community through his participation in fund-raising and food drive activities for his school and church, and by helping his mother's Girl Scout troop with fund raising and first aid training for the girls in first through eighth grades; and,
WHEREAS, Thomas is the second son of Pancho and Leigh Luna, has assisted in taking care of the home and the medical needs of his grandmother, and has shown great patience and compassion while assisting the family with these tasks; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Thomas A. Luna on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and wishes him great success in his future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
