Body

WHEREAS, the County and the City of Blue Springs, the City of Grandview, the City of Independence, the City of Kansas City, and the City of Raytown are required by federal law  to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement as a condition precedent to applying for a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) from the U.S. Department of Justice totaling $1,032,422.00; and,

 

WHEREAS, under the terms of the proposed agreement, attached hereto as Exhibit A, the County shall act as the fiscal agent for this grant and establish a trust fund upon receipt of the grant for distribution of the grant funds to the aforementioned cities; and,

 

WHEREAS, under the proposed agreement, the JAG award of $1,032,422.00 would be distributed as follows:

WHEREAS, the proposed agreement and grant application are in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the proposed Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Blue Springs, the City of Grandview, the City of Independence, the City of Kansas City, and the City of Raytown for the purpose of applying for a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice totaling $1,032,422.00.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
