MY ADULT OF THE YEAR
I was so young; I could still remember the look on her face
When they told her my brother would never be like the other
Children no matter how much she may hope and pray.
I hated seeing her look that way. As I look in her face now I
See the patience, the love, the fortitude, to help him overcome any
Obstacle, that look inspires me each and everyday.
With three kids, a grandchild on the way, no job, that
Would be enough to make anyone quit.
She's able to stretch and $800.00 check each month to buy
Food, pay bills, and love us all without a job. The fortitude of
Her love will never allow her to submit.
Now that I'm growing older and becoming a woman
Myself the things that she's given me that are most precious
And valuable are not to be measured by gold.
My momma is "My Adult of the Year" because the
Fortitude she shows me everyday leads me to all the things I
Need to make it in this life. All that I see I will remember and
Forever hold.
