Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West High School girls cross country team finished its 2007 season with its first ever Missouri Class 4 state girls cross country championship; and,
WHEREAS, the Titans never finished lower than second place during the season and took first place in conference, district and sectional meets; and,
WHEREAS, the Titans worked through a difficult early season, because only two of the seven girls on the team had competed in 2006; and,
WHEREAS, the team ended up winning the state championship by defeating the nationally ranked Jefferson City team by 33 points; and,
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West 2007 girls cross country team finished the season as the top ranked team in any class in the state, and as the 7th ranked team in the 7-state Heartland Region; and,
WHEREAS, three of the team members, Brittany Tate, Johanna Kleinsasser, and Chelsey Phoebus, all earned All-State honors; and,
WHEREAS, the members of the Lee's Summit 2007 girls cross country team were Brittany Tate, Johanna Kleinsasser, Chelsey Phoebus, Ashley Holtz, Emily Argotsinger, Alex Moase, and Crystal Lohr; and,
WHEREAS, the team was coached to its state title by head coach Dave Denny and assistant coaches Amy Wiseman, Michael Shortino, and Christy Dabalos; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates the Lee's Summit West girls cross country team for its outstanding effort in winning the Missouri Class 4 State Championship.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
