IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION opposing the issuance of a permit for a proposed demolition debris landfill on Red Bud Drive in Kansas City. Intro RESOLUTION # 12562, March 1, 1999 INTRODUCED BY Dan Tarwater, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, there is an application pending before the Board of Zoning Adjustment of the City of Kansas City for a permit to operate a demolition debris landfill on Red Bud Drive in south Kansas City; and, WHEREAS, the location of the proposed landfill is near the County's Blue River Parkway; and, WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has expressed concerns to the Board because the size of the landfill will not require it to be permanently attended, thus leaving open the possibility of illegal dumping; and, WHEREAS, the Director is also concerned about the possible erosion of soil into the Blue River from the landfill; and, WHEREAS, due to the risk of harm to one of the County's beautiful parks, the Legislature believes that the permitting of the proposed landfill is not in the best interests of the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature opposes the issuance of a permit for a proposed demolition debris landfill on Red Bud Drive in south Kansas City.
