Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends the purchase of communications equipment for use by the Sheriff's Department to New Eagle International of Silver Lake, Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to said contract for the reason that is the only known supplier of its own proprietary tactical head sets and other related communications equipment; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fund this expenditure, an appropriation is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this appropriation as an amendment to her 2001 recommended County budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made from the unappropriated surplus of the 2001

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
