A RESOLUTION recognizing the Lee's Summit R-7 School District on the prestigious honor of being listed on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Missouri Assessment Program's (MAP) Highest-Performing Schools "Top 10" lists.

Body

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District recently received the prestigious honor of appearing on the Missouri Assessment Program's Highest Performing Schools Top 10 lists; and,

 

WHEREAS, these lists rank schools based on their scores on the Missouri academic achievement tests in two categories: math and communication arts; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lee's Summit R-7 schools appeared on these statewide lists a total of 19 times, the third highest number of listings for any school district in the state, and more appearances on the Top 10 lists than any other Kansas City metropolitan-area school district; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 schools making the top 10 lists included Cedar Creek Elementary School in the category of fourth-grade math, Longview Farm and Woodland Elementary Schools in the category of fifth-grade math, Cedar Creek, Highland Park, Longview Farm, Pleasant Lea, Trailridge, and Woodland Elementary Schools in the category of sixth-grade math, Summit Lakes Middle School in both seventh and eighth-grade math, Lee's Summit North High School in tenth-grade math, Longview Farm Elementary School in the category of fourth-grade communication arts, and Cedar Creek, Highland Park, Longview Farm, Mason, and Richardson Elementary Schools in the category of sixth-grade communication arts; and,

 

WHEREAS, these lists were based on the percentage of students scoring at the "proficient" and "advanced" levels, the top two levels on the MAP test, in the  subject areas of the MAP testing, communication arts and math; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the Lee's Summit R-7 School District as one of the top three school districts on the state's "Top 10" schools lists.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
