A RESOLUTION honoring the life and memory of Drexel Mack, process server for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Jackson County, who was tragically killed February 29, 2024.

RESOLUTION NO. 21570, March 4, 2024

 

INTRODUCED BY Donna Peyton, Jeanie Lauer, Megan L. Marshall, Jalen Anderson, Manuel Abarca IV, Venessa Huskey, Charlie Franklin, DaRon McGee, and Sean E. Smith, County Legislators

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Drexel Mack, a process server for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri, was tragically killed while serving a writ of possession at a home in Independence, Missouri on February 29, 2024; and,

 

WHEREAS, Drexel will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched as an amazing man, a great father, brother, friend, and co-worker; and,

 

WHEREAS, Drexel, his younger sister Carmon Mack, and older sister Helen Lightbourne grew up in the Bahama Islands and moved to the United States as children, coming to love Kansas City; and,

 

WHEREAS, Drexel’s talent and kindness were evident to all who knew him, with memories of his gifted voice in the U.S. Navy Choir and his compassionate nature as a corrections officer and civil process server in both Florida and the Kansas City area; and,

 

WHEREAS, Drexel was a 12-year employee of the 16th Judicial Circuit Court, where he handled the court’s most time sensitive and important documents and is remembered as a hard worker who went above and beyond to assist his co-workers to carry out the demands of his job in the Civil Process Division of the court; and,

WHEREAS, over his career Drexel was named the top employee and received glowing reviews from his coworkers; and,

 

WHEREAS, in addition to his sisters, Drexel leaves behind a 19-year-old son, Drexel Mack Jr., who lives in Miami, Florida, his fiancé, Janelle Ruffin, who has three children, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby honors the life and memory of Drexel Mack and extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, coworkers, and all who mourn his loss.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
