Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Drug Commission recommends the participation in the United Way of Greater Kansas City's Quality Matters: Preparing Our Children and Youth For School and Life Success program; and,
WHEREAS, the Quality Matters program is a joint partnership between COMBAT and the United Way of Greater Kansas City that provides training to COMBAT prevention agencies to strengthen child and youth development programs and to aid in anti-drug and violence prevention activities and purposes; and,
WHEREAS, this request is to partially fund three additional COMBAT sites for the program, at ArtsTech, ReStart, and the Housing Authority of Kansas City, at an aggregate cost to the County in the amount of $8,250.00; and,
WHEREAS, COMBAT has previously helped recruit several prevention programs to participate in the Quality Matters program; and,
WHEREAS, COMBAT's participation in the Quality Matters program is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the United Way of Greater Kansas City, in the amount of $8,250.00, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, for the expansion of the 2012 Quality Matters: Preparing Our Children and Youth For School and Life Success program to ArtsTech, ReStart, and the Housing Authority of Kansas City.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
