Body
WHEREAS, the Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force has requested the expenditure of $90,000.00 to assist the Independence Police Department in purchasing a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer; and,
 
WHEREAS, this device, which will replace an obsolete unit, is used to analyze narcotics and chemicals in criminal investigations conducted by the Task Force and other law enforcement agencies in Jackson County; and,
 
WHEREAS, assisting in the purchase of this equipment would ensure that the Jackson County Drug Task Force would be able to continue to avail itself of the no-cost services of the Independence Police Department Crime Lab, saving time, money and manpower; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Director of the Department of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make payment in the amount of $90,000.00 to the City of Independence, MO.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
