Body
WHEREAS, Jordan Hoffman, a seventh grader at Pleasant Lea Middle School, qualified for the Scripps National Spelling Bee on March 19, 2011, when she won the Jackson County Spelling Bee; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jordan previously qualified for the National Spelling Bee when she won the County spelling bee in 2010, while a student at Highland Park Elementary School; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jordan has qualified for the Jackson County Bee for four consecutive years; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jordan traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee on May 29, 2011, where she improved her score from the previous year; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jordan sings in the Pleasant Lea Middle School Choir and Tiger Singers, and participated in February for the first time in the MathCounts competition; and,
 
WHEREAS, she is a member of the Lee's Summit Christian Church, participates in the Chi Rho Youth Group, and serves as a youth representative on the church's Visioning Team; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jordan enjoys playing the piano, composing music and lyrics, and spending time with her family and friends; and,
 
WHEREAS, Jordan's parents, Mark and Ruth Hoffman, and sister, Sophia, are justifiably proud of their daughter and sister; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Jordan Hoffman for qualifying for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and extends best wishes to her in all of her future endeavors.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
