A RESOLUTION of appreciation and remembrance of Sherry Cosby whose twenty-three-year career with Jackson County was marked by dedicated service, compassion,

professionalism, and unwavering commitment to her colleagues and the community.

RESOLUTION NO. 22393, September 9, 2026

 

INTRODUCED BY Venessa Huskey, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Jackson County mourns the passing of Sherry Cosby, whose twenty-three-year career with Jackson County was marked by dedicated service, compassion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to her colleagues and the community;

and,

 

WHEREAS, in August 2003, she began her distinguished career with Jackson County as a Legal Secretary in the Prosecutor’s Office, in February 2005, she was promoted to Executive Assistant to the District Attorney, where she continued to demonstrate exceptional dedication and professionalism; and,

 

WHEREAS, in January 2007, she became Executive Assistant to the Prosecutor, serving in a position of trust and responsibility and making valuable contributions to the work of the Prosecutor’s Office; and,

 

 

 

WHEREAS, in May 2015, she assumed the role of Restitution Coordinator, where her compassion, diligence, and commitment to helping others were reflected in her service; and,

 

WHEREAS, in October 2019, she was appointed Jackson County Municipal Court Administrator, continuing her career of meaningful service and leadership to Jackson County; and,

 

WHEREAS, in January 2022, she joined the Corrections Team as Human Resources Coordinator, serving in her final position with Jackson County and continuing to make a positive and lasting impact on those around her; and,

 

WHEREAS, throughout her twenty-three years of service in various impactful positions, she earned the respect, admiration, and affection of her coworkers and colleagues through her kindness, dedication, compassion, and willingness to support others; and,

 

WHEREAS, she will be remembered not only for the work she accomplished, but for the person she was a kind, dedicated, compassionate, and valued teammate whose presence enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know and work alongside her; and,

 

 

 

WHEREAS, her passing leaves a profound loss for her family, friends, colleagues,

and the Jackson County community, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED that Jackson County hereby honors and remembers Sherry Cosby for her twenty-three years of dedicated service and for the lasting contributions she made throughout her career; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Jackson County extends its deepest sympathy and

heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones during this time of sorrow; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that her memory and legacy of kindness, dedication, compassion, and service shall remain a valued part of the history of Jackson County.

 

 

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
