Body
WHEREAS, section 526., Jackson County Code, 1984, authorizes the Chief Financial Officer to make lump sum payments, upon the recommendation of the County Counselor, in settlement of claims brought by County employees under the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, the County Counselor has recommended that the claims of County employee Norma Kay Schweiger be settled for the lump sum payment of $19,452.69; and,
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has requested the concurrence of the Legislature in this recommended settlement, due to his close working relationship with Ms. Schweiger, a member of the County Executive's staff; and,
WHEREAS, the recommended settlement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby does concur in the Chief Financial Officer's decision to settle the workers' compensation claims of Norma Kay Schweiger for a lump sum payment in the amount of $19,452.69.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
