Enacted and Approved
WHEREAS, alcohol-related accidents account for 23% of all fatal motor vehicle accidents in Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County currently ranks first in the state in alcohol-related accidents, having had 12.9% of Missouri's alcohol-related accidents in 2005; and,
WHEREAS, to combat this situation, the Sheriff's Office has been awarded a grant in the amount of $2,500.00 by the Missouri Safety Center in furtherance of the Center's You Drink and Drive, You Lose Enforcement program for the period August 16, 2006, through September 4, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff recommends the use of funds for reimbursement of overtime used for the You Drink and Drive, You Lose Enforcement program pursuant to an Agreement with the Missouri Safety Center, a copy of which is attached hereto; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2006 Grant Fund be and hereby is made:
