A RESOLUTION recognizing Lindsey Bangert upon her selection as a 2008 Missouri Scholars 100.

Intro

RESOLUTION #16681, July 28, 2008

 

INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence, County Legislator

Body

WHEREAS, Lindsey Bangert, a Lee's Summit North High School senior, was selected for the 2008 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors Missouri's top 100 academic students in the 2008 graduating class; and,

 

WHEREAS, to be considered for the Missouri Scholars 100, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.75, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,900, be ranked in the upper 10 percent of the class, have taken upper-level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language, have excellent attendance, be an exemplary school citizen, and be involved in school activities; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lindsey has a GPA of 4.4 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked 5 out of 500 students in her class; and,

 

WHEREAS, throughout high school Lindsey was involved in Women's Choir and Concert Choir, National Honor Society, worked on the school newspaper Northern Exposure, was a member of the Bronco Literary Society acting as the Society's president from her sophomore to her senior year, was the Lee's Summit Journal's Outstanding Senior, and qualified for Bright Flight her sophomore year; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lindsey has taken and excelled in advanced courses throughout her  schooling, receiving academic letters from her freshman to her junior year, maintaining her place on the principal's honor roll throughout high school, and becoming a National Merit Scholar her senior year; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lindsey has been involved in many community service projects, serving in Alabama, Oklahoma, and North Kansas City, and is actively involved in her church youth group and Club 121; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lindsey plans to attend Truman State University and major in Psychology; and,

 

WHEREAS, Lindsey's parents, Jason and Sabrina, and her brother, Austin, join in Lindsey's celebration of this distinguished award; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Lindsey Bangert upon her selection as a Missouri Scholar 100 and wishes her well in all her future endeavors.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
