AN ORDINANCE appropriating $208,000.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2012 Grant Fund in acceptance of the U.S. Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) for use by the Prosecuting Attorney's Office and authorizing the execution of an Interlocal Agreement with the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri.

Body
WHEREAS, the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri has received the 2012 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) from the U.S. Department of Justice in the amount of $578,423.00, for the Greater Kansas City Crime Prevention Initiative, of which $208,000.00 has been allocated to Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, the grant proceeds will be used to fund provide salary and benefits for the Jackson County Drug Court and the salary for a Crime Initiative Manager; and,
WHEREAS, the grant requires no match and if for the period of October 1, 2011, through September 30, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the proper spending accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
