Intro

RESOLUTION # 13826, September 17, 2001

INTRODUCED BY Victor Callahan, County Legislator

Body

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, detestable and cowardly terrorists attacks were carried out against the United States of America; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature condemns these cowardly and deadly actions; and,

WHEREAS, these horrific events have affected all Americans, but it is important that we carry on with the regular activities of our lives; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature supports the President as he works with his national security team to defend against additional attacks and find the perpetrators to bring them to justice; and,

WHEREAS, the White House has recommended that giving blood could be the single most useful action Americans can take, as large quantities will be needed to help victims of these senseless acts; and,

WHEREAS, terrorists cannot be allowed to break the spirit of the American people and the best way to show these cowards that they have truly failed is for the people of the United States and their counties to stand tall and proud; and,

WHEREAS, 40 years ago President Kennedy stated, "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of Liberty;" now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature condemns the senseless attacks on America and salutes the leadership of the President and Congress in their efforts to bring the perpetrators and those who harbor them to justice - - God Bless the United States of America.
