Body
WHEREAS, the compensation for election judges in Jackson County has not been increased since 1991; and,
WHEREAS, at the request of the Jackson County and Kansas City Boards of Election Commissioners, sufficient funds to provide a modest increase to the compensation of election judges were included in the 2000 Jackson County budget; and,
WHEREAS, the estimated additional cost to the County of the proposed increase for elections in the year 2000 is $46,553; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed increase is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. Sections 1340. and 1341., Jackson County Code, 1984, and hereby repealed and two new sections enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as §§1340. and 1341., to read as follows:
1340. Board of Election Commission of Jackson County, Compensation for Judges.
The compensation for election judges for the Board of Election Commission of Jackson County, Missouri is as follows.
a. Supervisory Judges.
The compensation for supervisory judges is [eighty] ninety dollars ($[80]90) per day.
b. Nonsupervisory Judges.
The compensation for nonsupervisory judges is [seventy_two] eighty dollars ($[72]80) per day.
1341. Board of Election Commissioners of Kansas City, Compensation for Judges.
The compensation for election judges for the Board of Election Commissioners of the city of Kansas City, Missouri is as follows.
a. Supervisory Judges.
The compensation for supervisory judges is [eighty] ninety dollars ($[80]90) per day.
b. Nonsupervisory Judges.
The compensation for nonsupervisory judges is [seventy_two] eighty dollars ($[72]80) per day.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
