Body
WHEREAS, Shelby Winslow, a sophomore at Lee's Summit West High School in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District, was awarded the Top Overall Female Archery Champion at the All-Nations All-Star Tournament, held in July at the University of Wisconsin - Madison; and,
 
WHEREAS, Shelby, a competitor on the Lee's Summit West High School Titan Archery Team, set the 2014 Missouri State National Archery in the Schools (NASP) record for both male and female competitors with a score of 297; and,
 
WHEREAS, at the NASP National Tournament, Shelby tied for third in the High School Girls' division, was named one of the top sixteen archers in the country, and became a member of the All-American Team; and,
 
WHEREAS, Shelby began competing in archery as a sixth grader at Longview Farm Elementary where she was led by her elementary and middle school coach, Steve Lanier; and,
 
WHEREAS, Shelby went on to compete at Summit Lakes Middle School and in 2013 she was the Female State Champion and placed third at the NASP World Tournament in the Middle School Girls' division; and,
 
WHEREAS, as a sophomore competing on the Lee's Summit West High School team, Shelby is now led by her father and head coach, David Winslow; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition to archery, Shelby enjoys cross country, kart racing, art, and science; and,
 
WHEREAS, Shelby's parents, David and Shayla Winslow, and brother Jacob, are justifiably proud of their daughter and sister; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Shelby Winslow on her impressive showing at the World All-Star NASP Tournament, and extends best wishes to her in all of her future endeavors.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
