IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI

A RESOLUTION recognizing the Lee's Summit West High School girls volleyball team on its Missouri Class 4 state championship.

RESOLUTION #16534, February 4, 2008

 

INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence and Fred Arbanas, County Legislators

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West High School girls volleyball team finished its 2007 season with a record of 37-2-1 as Missouri Class 4 state girls volleyball champions; and,

 

WHEREAS, the team defeated Cor Jesu Academy of St. Louis to win the state championship by winning the third game with a score of 25-23; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Titans are expected to be equally tough next season because all players return except senior, Allie Huffman; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jessica Kopp finished the season with a team-leading 282 kills and 152 digs, and Emily Briseno finished with a team-leading 122 blocks, and Kaitlyn Drawe led the team with 51 aces; and,

 

WHEREAS, the members of the 2007 Lee's Summit West High School girls volleyball team were Allie Huffman, Jessica Kopp, Kate Harris, Alex Katzfey, Paige Vanderpool, Kelsey Piepergerdes, Kaitlyn Drawe, Amber Geha, Kylie Rice, Emily Briseno, Hannah Mendenhall, Katie Douglas, Haylee Gregory, and Shelby Summers; and,

 

WHEREAS, the team was coached to a state title by head coach Mark Rice and assistant coaches Amy Drawe, Rachel Burns, Jackie Burns, and Adam Willey; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates the Lee's Summit West girls volleyball team for its Missouri Class 4 State Championship.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
