Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 17410, dated November 8, 2010, the Legislature did authorize the County Executive to exercise an option to purchase from the City of Independence, MO property located at 315 N. Main St., Independence, MO to renovate for use as the site of the Prosecuting Attorney's MyARTS Program; and,
WHEREAS, the County has completed the required environmental remediation of the property and is now ready to obtain the necessary services of an architect to develop construction plans and specifications so bids can be obtained for the renovation project; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works solicited proposals for architectural services and received 15 proposals thereon; and,
WHEREAS, a special committee made up of representatives from the legislature, administration, COMBAT, the Public Works Department, and a local business owner narrowed the list to five architects that were selected for presentation of their proposals; and,
WHEREAS, the committee recommends the award of the contract for architecture services for the MyARTS building renovation project located at 315 N. Main St., Independence, MO, to Davison Architecture + Urban Design, LLC, of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO, at a cost to the County not to exceed $100,560.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office negotiated the fee with Davison Architecture + Urban Design, LLC, and have verified that the fee is reasonable compared to standard design fee charts; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Department of Public Works and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office and that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
