IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION congratulating Ross P. Marine, DHL, MHA, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Lutheran Hospital, and former Administrator, Truman Medical Center East and Director of the Jackson County Health Department, upon being selected as the 1998 Citizen of the Year recipient by UNICO/Kansas City Chapter. Intro RESOLUTION # 12209, May 11, 1998 INTRODUCED BY Victor E. Callahan, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, UNICO, a national organization composed of men of Italian descent who meet together for constructive community service, is based upon the principle of service above self; and, WHEREAS, as the largest Italian member service organization in America, UNICO supports various local charities and helps families in need through their religious organization or local food pantries; and, WHEREAS, each year since 1951, the Kansas City Chapter of UNICO has been selecting an individual of Italian descent who has made outstanding contributions to the community; and, WHEREAS, Ross P. Marine, DHL, MHA, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Lutheran Hospital, and former Administrator, Truman Medical Center East and the Director of Public Health, Jackson County Health Department, is the deserving recipient of this prestigious award for 1998; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Marine has been instrumental in providing quality health care to the medically uninsured residents of Eastern Jackson County for the past eight years; and, WHEREAS, through his dynamic leadership, Mr. Marine has also been instrumental in implementing an organization-wide development plan enabling TMC East associates, medical/dental staff and faculty, and auxiliary/volunteers to identify and implement changes to provide quality care for the citizens of Eastern Jackson County; and, WHEREAS, as a result of his crusade to expand access to health care, five public health outreach facilities came into being: The Health Source of Grandview with St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City, MO, Cler-Mont Elementary School Health Center of Ft. Osage, MO, Van Horn High School Health Center of Independence, MO, Health Source of Oak Grove, MO, and Procter Elementary School Health Center of Independence, MO; and, WHEREAS, upon recognizing the need for top quality health care, Mr. Marine became involved in the initiation of a $38 million renovation and expansion project which included the new Truman East Care Centre Ambulatory Emergency Services Renovation/ Expansion, the TMC East Dental Clinic, the Jackson County Health Department and other support services; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Marine is to be highly commended for his unparalleled community service to Jackson County residents; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Marine will receive his award at an awards dinner on Sunday, May 31, 1998, at the Marriott Downtown, Kansas City, MO; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County that the Legislature congratulates Ross P. Marine upon being selected as the 1998 Citizen of the Year recipient by UNICO/Kansas City Chapter, and commends him for his tremendous efforts in bringing compassion and quality care to the community. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
