A RESOLUTION congratulating L. Earle Conner upon his 32 years in public safety with the City of Sugar Creek, and wishing him well on his retirement.

RESOLUTION # 13635,  March 26, 2001

Body

WHEREAS, on April 1, 2001, L. Earle Conner will retire as Fire Marshall (1988-2001), Police Chief (1969-2001), and Fire Chief (1969-2001) for the City of Sugar Creek; and,

 

WHEREAS, Earle began his career with the City of Sugar Creek in 1969 and was instrumental in directing the steady growth and professionalism of the City's public safety staff; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1981 he was named Police Officer of the year by the Kansas City Area Metropolitan Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Association; and,

 

WHEREAS, he is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Loyal Order of Moose, K.C. Lodge #10, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #3717, and American Legion Post #340; and,

 

WHEREAS, he has served as President of the Kansas City Area Metropolitan Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Association, President of the Missouri Police Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Jackson County Drug Enforcement Task Force, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Kansas-Western Missouri Chapter of the F.B.I's National Academy of Associates; and,

 

WHEREAS, Earle served eight years in the United States Naval Reserve; and,

 

WHEREAS, he development and administered a federal grant that resulted in a substantial upgrade of the city's police communication system and was instrumental in introducing 9-1-1 emergency telephone capabilities to the City of Sugar Creek; and,

 

WHEREAS, he was involved in establishing a joint conference of the three major law enforcement organizations in the State: the Missouri Police Chiefs, the Missouri Sheriffs Association, and the Missouri Police Officer's Association; and,

 

WHEREAS, Earl and his wife, Marjorie have one son, Brian Scott Conner; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates L. Earle Conner upon his retirement from the City of Sugar Creek and wishes him success in all future endeavors.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
