Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Drug Commission has recommended COMBAT sponsor the Night Out Against Crime event, to be held August 7, 2012, at a cost to the County not to exceed $1,500.00; and,
WHEREAS, the annual Night Out program is a yearlong community building campaign that is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and,
WHEREAS, this sponsorship will allow COMBAT to provide information to a regional audience of families, entrepreneurs, business and industry professionals, community leaders, and service organization about the prevention of violent crimes and substance abuse prevention and treatment services available to the neighborhoods and community organizations throughout Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County, through COMBAT, and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, will be co-sponsors of the annual "Good Neighbor Award," to be presented at the event; and,
WHEREAS, said sponsorship is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to issue a check to Blue Hills Community Services, in the amount of $1,500.00 for sponsorship of the Night Out Against Crime event, to be held August 7, 2012, at Swope Park.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
