A RESOLUTION congratulating W. Ferrell Shuck upon being inducted into the Missouri Press Association Hall of Fame.

Body
WHEREAS, W. Ferrell Shuck is a 28-year-veteran of the Lee's Summit Journal and has spent 45 years working in the newspaper industry; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck has made commendable contributions to the newspaper business, and, as publisher of the Lee's Summit Journal, has kept the community's best interests, in mind; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck has been endowed with a blending of gifts including an exceedingly keen mind, a pleasant and unassuming personality, and a true compassion for people; and,
WHEREAS, his knowledge and love for the newspaper business is evident among those who work with him and to those in the community who know and respect him; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck has been active in the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce for more than 30 years, is a member of the Lee's Summit Rotary Club, and has served on the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners; and,
WHEREAS, his community involvement also includes the Lee's Summit Economic Development Council and the Lee's Summit R-7 School District; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck served as president of the Northwest Missouri Press Association in 1979, president of the Central Missouri Press Association in 1992, and a board member of the Missouri Press Association, on which he currently serves as secretary; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Shuck has earned particular distinction having received the Merrill Chilcote Award from the Northwest Missouri Press Association in 1995; and,
WHEREAS, admiration and respect go out to Mr. Shuck for his many years of outstanding service to the newspaper industry and to the people of his community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates W. Ferrell Shuck upon his induction into the Missouri Press Association Hall of Fame and for his illustrious career in the newspaper business...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
