AN ORDINANCE transferring $111,600 within the 1999 Park Fund and appropriating $223,200 from the unappropriated surplus of the 1999 Grant Fund to cover the grant received from the National Recreation Trails Program and the transfer of matching funds, and authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement with the National Recreation Trails Program.

Body
WHEREAS, the National Recreation Trails Program has awarded a grant to the Parks and Recreation Department for its Blue Springs Lake Trail; and,
WHEREAS, funding from this grant will allow for the extension of 3.0 miles of the Blue Springs Lake Trail which will be used by walkers, joggers, and bicyclists; and,
WHEREAS, the total state share of the grant is $111,600 with a local match of $111,600, for which a transfer and appropriation are necessary; and,
WHEREAS, in order to accept this grant, a transfer within the 1999 Park Fund and an appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 1999 Grant Fund are necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said transfer; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Agreement is a suitable mechanism by which the grant can be implemented; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer and appropriation be and hereby are made:

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
