Body
WHEREAS, on November 27, 2010, the Rockhurst High School varsity football team defeated Hazelwood Central 10-7 in the Missouri Class 6 State Championship game, finishing the season with an undefeated record of 14-0; and,
WHEREAS, Head Coach Tony Severino, in his 28th year as head coach reached his milestone 300th win; and,
WHEREAS, on November 20, 2010, the Rockhurst High School soccer team defeated St. John Vianney High School 3-1 in the state championship match, finishing its season with a record of 25 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie; and,
WHEREAS, Head Coach Chris Lawson is in his 17th year heading the soccer team; and,
WHEREAS, on November 13, 2010, the Rockhurst High School Swim and Dive Team won its seventh consecutive Missouri State High School Activities Association Championship in St. Louis, setting many state records, including the team's first ever dive competition win; and,
WHEREAS, Head Coach Paul Winkeler earned the distinction of being named Missouri Swim Coach of the Year for the third time; and,
WHEREAS, Rockhurst also won the Missouri State Cross Country Individual Championship with the team finishing in a program-best fifth place; and,
WHEREAS, the cross country team led by Head Coach Michael Dierks is in his 13th year as head cross country coach; and,
WHEREAS, in this year of the 100th anniversary of its charter, Rockhurst High School's athletic success stems from its philosophy of providing an environment characterized by a concern for the individual and his understanding of the relationship with other members of his particular team; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Rockhurst High School students and staff on their outstanding athletic performances during fall semester 2010 and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
