Body
WHEREAS, the Explore Intervention Program at Mattie Rhodes Center is designed to provide youth with access to drug prevention and intervention services to increase protective factors and reduce risk factors associated with substance abuse; and,
WHEREAS, the program will allow youth to engage in academic support, mentoring, leadership and arts programming and education workshops focusing on gangs, substance abuse and truancy; and,
WHEREAS, the programs primary goals are to establish strong prevention programs and to demonstrate the effectiveness of arts programming; and,
WHEREAS, this program is supported by a grant from the Kansas City School District in the amount of $30,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has recommended Anti-Drug Sales Tax funds in the amount of $25,000.00 to provide a portion of a required local match to this grant; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a Cooperative Agreement, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, with Mattie Rhodes Center, at a cost to the County not to exceed $25,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the agreement.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
