Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County, Missouri Legislature wishes to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievement of the Ruskin High School boys basketball team, the Ruskin Eagles; and,
WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles won the Greater Kansas City Suburban District (Blue Division) Championship Title on Monday night, March 6, 2023, after playing three games and defeating the top-ranked Belton High School team, in the finals; and,
WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles maintained their conference champion status for three years in a row and then excelled to win the conference championship again for the fourth year in a row; and,
WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles' outstanding achievement in winning the district championship title has placed them among the top eight high schools in their class in the state of Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles' Head Coach, Marcus Whitney, and all of the coaching staff, have been instrumental in preparing and motivating the team to achieve success; and,
WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles' players have shown discipline, determination, and perseverance in their pursuit of excellence in basketball and academics; and,
WHEREAS, the Ruskin Eagles' student-athletes have demonstrated a commitment to hard work and teamwork in the pursuit of their goals; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and congratulates the Ruskin Eagles boys basketball team on their outstanding achievement in winning the Greater Kansas City Suburban District (Blue Division) Championship Title and for advancing to compete in the Missouri State Championship Playoff; and,
