Body
WHEREAS, via Ordinance 5506, dated May 10, 2021, the Legislature previously authorized a Cooperative Agreement with University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) and community partners using federal CARES Act funds to establish and undertake the Our Healthy KC Eastside (OHKCE) project to promote and deliver widespread COVID-19 vaccinations and other health services within Kansas City's most socially vulnerable community until December 31, 2023; and,

WHEREAS, with the adoption of Ordinance 5583, dated December 13, 2021, the funding source for the OHKCE project has been switched from the CARES Act Fund to the American Rescue Plan Fund (ARPA) to take advantage of the longer permissible performance period for funding available under ARPA; and,

WHEREAS, OHKCE Phase II will continue to utilize UMKC's, University Health's, and the Black Health Care Coalition's extensive experience in providing health services in community and medical settings in Kansas City's Eastside and other areas of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, under Phase II, the program will also seek collaboration with the Jackson County, Kansas City, and Independence Health Departments, and will include quarterly reports back to the County on the program's results; and,
